Vocational Rehabilitation

The Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Program is designed to assist tribal members with diagnosed mental, physical and development disabilities to obtain and maintain employment.

Program goals include:

  • Reduce unemployment of tribal members with disabilities by providing comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services to tribal members.
  • Target tribal youth with disabilities, ages 16 to 25, to overcome barriers for employment.
  • Increase access to mental health and counseling services available to tribal members with disabilities.
  • Successful job placement based upon specific strengths, weaknesses, interests, and capabilities of applicants.

Vocational rehabilitation services are provided for all tribal members from three designated federal tribes (Tunica-Biloxi, Coushatta, and Jena Band of Choctaw) who reside within the following parishes: Avoyelles, Rapides, Allen, LaSalle, Jeff Davis, Calcasieu, Pointe Coupee, Lafayette and Grant.
